Young workers look for future

What do the percentages in the graphic tell you about the factors that adults ages 18–29 consider to be most important in a job or career? Why do you think opportunity for advancement and employee benefits, e.g., paid vacations, health insurance, etc., are more important to these individuals than money? What other factors do you think are important that are not on this list? Why? How do you think these percentages would change if individuals ages 12–17 were surveyed? Ages 45–59? Would the categories change, too? As a class, make a list of the top five part–time jobs that students hold. Then, have each student give his or her top two reasons for holding that job. Use the information to create your own graphic, and compare and contrast the results to those at left.
