As a classroom teacher for 33 years I have been searching for unique ways to present mathematics, so that students will see, feel, and understand the concepts, particularly for Algebra I. Classroom teachers are looking for nontraditional problems to use in their classes and the new USA TODAY and Texas Instruments Math TODAY activities do just that. These activities are presented in the context of real-life situations that come from the different sections of USA TODAY. The use of handheld technology has brought life into the mathematics classroom by exploring the mathematical concepts in context, using graphics from USA TODAY.
